Vidéo du vendredi - CTMH's Stitch Guide

Bon vendredi,

It's Vidéo du vendredi. Every Friday I post a video on CTMH products.

For all you crafter who are handy with a needle, the Stitch Guide is for you. All you need is your piercing tool to make the holes.

Take a look at these two videos to see how easy it is to use the Stitch Guide.

I love how you just flip it over to punch more holes to get the full image. Then if you want sew them with a needle and thread or bakers twine. Voilà. I like how it does the zig zag stitching.

Open House - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Coucou les amies,

During my Open House last week, the ladies also made second card. This one was designed to bring out everyone's inner-girly... Colouring always brings people back to their childhood and makes them feel young. So I thought we'd have fun colouring in the shopping lady image with the ShinHan Twin touch markers. We had blond, red heads, brunettes !

This stamp comes from the Better With A Friend stamp set (D1608). It is so fun and a little sassy. In the 2014-2015 Annual Inspirations book there are 10 stamp sets available exclusively to hostesses with sales of $150 or more. It's only $10 (retail value of $17.95). That's over a 40% savings.

I think the rectangular mat in Pixie Pink cardstock  also adds youthfulness to the card. I placed 2 clear bitty sparkles on the top right, but wanted them to pop a bit, so I coloured them with the marker. Love how from now on I will be able colour coordinate my bling !

We also had fun with zigzags (I know everyone keeps calling them chevrons, but what can I say, I prefer the word zigzag)

Everyone lined up 4 equal-sized strips. First at the top white Daisy cardstock, and the second black cardstock. We ran both pieces of white and black cardstocks through the BigKick using the chevron embossing folder, and then sanded the top of the black cardstock to reveal its white core.

This tied it into the white/black side of the Fundamentals paper pack (Basic colour collection), where one side is black & white and the other side is glossy black on black.

Glued everything down and voilà - sassy card.
We kept the inside of the card blank so it could be given for a birthday, or as a thank you, or just because.

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think.

Cape Cod birthday card at my CTMH catalogue Open House

Coucou les amies,

First off I want to give a shout to everyone who braved the torrential rain last night to come to my Open House. Thank you so much !!
This was my official release of the new CTMH Annual Inspirations catalogue to my friends and clients. Of course members of my FREEBIE club came with their copy in hand all marked up - one of the perks of membership :-)

First, the ladies walked around the kitchen to see all the patterned papers I had set up on display along the counters, before settling into the living room to flip through the catalogue. I heard a few "Ooh, that's nice".  While they did that, I passed around some of the neat new tools like the scalloped edge punch, and my favourite want, the washi tape holders - kuddos to the engineer who thought that one up! Then I passed around the Picture My Life cards, because the August promotion is all about PML. (buy a PML kit and get an extra 10 sheets of page protectors for only $3, your choice of style) Not just for scrapbooking, these make great mini albums or embellishments on traditional layouts or cards.

Then the group split into 2 tables to CREATE cards with new products from the Annual Inspirations catalogue. Everyone looked like they were having FUN.

The first card everyone made was a birthday card - Cape Cod style.  I chose this for 2 reasons, first, my house is a Cape Cod style - gabled roof with siding, painted inside with colours of the seaside, watery blues, sandy beige and sunny yellows.  Second, because there are only a couple of weeks left before school starts, I figured a summery card would be something my guests could use. What can I say - I am all about mixing PRACTICAL and FUN.

Here's how we made it. Started with the CTMH card base in Colonial white (I know you can get the ones at Michael's 40% off, but I like the feel of the CTMH card better - channels my lust for Crane stationary)
We glued down two triangles cut out of both sides of the polka dotted Seaside paper with bonding glue stick. The joyful birthday sentiment was stamped in lagoon ink onto a piece of Colonial white cardstock that had been cut into a shape from the Artiste cricut cartridge. The edges were sponge daubered (is that even a verb?) with the mini chocolate distressing ink. Finished off the card by adding an aqua dot and some teal shimmer trim and voilà. Bonne Fête to some lucky guy!

Everything was precut ahead of time to make it quick and easy. Always unique, my friend Johanne used her personal flair and rearranged the pieces to came up with this pretty card. I love how versatile the products can be.

Everyone was so into the catalogue, we totally forgot about the cash 'n carry items available for sale. Oops - next time!

August SOTM - Sock Monkey Card

Coucou les amies,

This month's special stamp has set has a lot of images on it.  I chose to use one of the images to make Sock Monkey card. Who doesn't love Sock Monkey right ?

Sock Monkey birthday card

I stamped the monkey image twice in archival black ink on daisy white cardstock. I then coloured him in Shin Han Touch Twin warm grey #4 marker. My friend Carol-Anne showed me how to stipple the colorless blender  marker to get a textured effect like wool socks. I cut out his mouth, popped it up and coloured his lips using   Shin Han Touch Twin R11 Carmine marker. His eyes are 2 black epoxy bubbles. His hat is stamped in cranberry red ink.

The sentiment was coloured using more of the ShinHan markers and matted on cranberry red cardstock. The starred background paper is from CTMH's Chalk it Up collection.

Not sure who to gives this to, but it was FUN to CREATE it.

During the month of August, you can buy this special CTMH stamp set for just $5.00 when you purchase $50 in products or at full retail price of $19.75.
